Data, climate, realtime composition
Funded initially through a Creative Informatics Connected Innovator award, the Witness Engines have formed the heart of a series of collaborations, including commissions for and residencies with; The Ocean ARTic Partnership, the European Marine Board, Submersive Atmospheres, and the Friends of the Scott Polar Research Institute.

The Witness Engines have worked with realtime data enabling compositions to emerge from earthquake and volcano monitoring, live satellite positioning, weather systems, air quality measurement stations and carbon intensity assessment. The Witness Engines also played a part in the Chelsea Flower Show gold medal winning Elsewhere Garden.
In various collaborations Michael has also tuned the engines to work with datasets, which have enabled innovative work relating to (for example) observing the transition of zooplankton vertical migration habits from a solar to a lunar day.
