A record of the Antarctica residency 2024
From January - March 2024 Michael was in Antarctica as the first Friends of the Scott Polar Research Institute musician in residence. He was hosted by the Royal Navy aboard the ice patrol vessel, HMS Protector.
Field recording and filming was completed in numerous locations, including South Georgia, Detaille Island, Deception Island and the Ukrainian research station, Vernadsky.
Outputs to date have included broadcast on BBC Radio 3 Unclassified, a full length broadcast on :zoviet*france:s ResonanceFM broadcast, A Duck In A Tree. Future outputs include a full length album to be released by the Italian label, Glacial Movements, and an expanded cinema performance at the Sonica Festival in Glasgow, Scotland in September 2024.
